17 Days

There are 17 days before my husband gets home.

this is HUGE!!!!!

I have lived the last 7 months alone, solo, solamente a mi, meaning just MYSELF.

I am a little nervous about having him home, don't get me wrong I am really looking forward to having someone to fall asleep talking to, to take after dinner walks with, ;-). All of that...But at the same time I am a little nervous about having him home after having so much time of living on my own.

O.K. I need the advice of all the navy wifes out there who are wiser than I. What should I expect, what should I do/not to to help my sailor's transition easier? PLEASE HELP!

  2. I'm not a navy wife, but I've have two homecomings under my belt!

I think one thing that most wives agree can be difficult is adjusting to having another person in your house and not having things done your particular way. It's easy to remind them that they have been gone for the past X amount of months and you've been doing it this way the entire time. It can be difficult giving up some of the control, just take a deep breath and try to adjust somethings to fit both of your lifestyles.

Enjoy your homecoming, it's a wonderful day!

  3. My biggest piece of advice is to cut yourself some slack. My big mistake over the last month has been to expect everything to be perfect immediately, but we have had to do a lot readjusting...

  4. Advice from a mother-in-law?? Remember to breathe!! You guys will be fine, and yes there will be an adjustment. You'll laugh a little, cry a little, be mad a little (it's not in the song, but it's true) and it will be like another honeymoon! Love you, Lynn

  7. By the way!

I tried to do an e-mail reply to the comment you left me, but it said that your gmail account didn't exist so I will just reply here if that is okay!

    Hey Sara,

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I just graduated with my BSN in May. It took me six years to figure out what I wanted to do, but I couldn't be happier to be an RN! I start my first job next Monday, so I am very excited about that. I will be working on an Adult Medical/Surgical ICU at a big teaching hospital in West Virginia.

My husband was in the Marine Corp for 4-1/2 years. We got married a month after he discharged, though I honestly thought he was going to be in the Marine Corp for his entire life. However things changed when I found out that I was accepted to the nursing program I graduated from... So now we are pretty much stuck living the military life without actually being in the military. I am moving to West Virginia without him for now because there were no jobs for me in Minnesota. Most people find that hard to believe, but there is definitely not a nursing shortage in the Twin Cities! So we're just going to see how things go. He may or may not end up moving out East with me. We just bought a house in July, and he has been hoping to go back to school for a while now so there are a lot of things to consider!

    ~Sarah~
