So I guess lightning can strike; times 3.

Last night Kyle and I had date night since we hadn't seen much of each other over the past two weeks when I was in Rhode Island (and he was in San Diego!). I had wanted to see Toy Story 3 so he took me out to dinner then we caught an early evening showing (and no we didn't see it in 3-D or IMAX; Kyle has feelings about the movie industry doing EVERYTHING in 3-D now).

Now first and foremost I want you all to know; I am biased. I LOVE Pixar (and I mean LOVE). I have absolutely adored every single feature film that they have been a part of (except Meet the Robinson's, but every family has a black sheep right?) I loved Toy Story; I loved Toy Story 2; but last year when I saw the preview for the third movie, I was initially hesitant. Could they really make a third movie that was as good as the first 2? What if it's awful? I'll be crushed!

It.
Was.
Phenomenal.

I don't even want to give you the smallest plot synopsis; because I want you to enjoy the movie like I did, knowing what I knew. Andy goes to college, the toys end up at a daycare. But it's more, so much more.

Do yourself a favor and go and see this movie. If you have seen it I'd love to hear your comments praises in the comments ;-)

hey! don't believe me?
IMDB users ranked Toy Story 3 the 7th greatest movie
OF. ALL. TIME.

Little Rhody Girl is home...and i'm feelin' good!

Hey all!

Hope you guys are having a nice week, because I sure am! I have been in Rhode Island since last thursday and I can tell you LOTS have already happened! Lots of time for family and friends. One Wedding, one Prom, a graduation yet to come; good seafood (lobster roll comes sunday!), and lots of time to RUN!

I broke down and got the Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver With Heart Rate Monitor last week when it was reduced on Amazon and I am IN LOVE with it! I have also added a "running" total (get it? hahaha I crack myself up) of my traning over there on the right column to I can keep track of my milage; and started taking a Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement.

I might be able to get some posts up before the end of the week documenting my vacation so far, but to be honest i'll probably wait until I get home. I want to spend every moment I can with my friends and family this week.

I wouldn't have it any other way.

Matt goes to Prom (and comes back in one piece!)

Tonight my little Brother went to his Senior Prom....

When did this happen? I feel like just last week I went to my senior prom!
Can you find me in the pic?

MHS Senior Prom 2004..
p.s. I'm the one in the pink..but you already knew that!

It made me think back on my own Senior Prom fondly. I had a great time at mine! Plus I was blessed with a wonderful group of friends that I had all through highschool that I still keep in contact with today! Just to name a few...

Brian (pinstripes kneeling on left) - talked to him today
Becca  (above Brian sticking her tongue out) - went to her wedding last week. Bridesmaid in my wedding
Scott (behind me) Texted with him today
Laura (holding knee of guy in chair) BFF in highschool (and now) and still really close friend today. She took all the pics at Kate's wedding. So saw here alot last month
Dawn (dark blue) one of my BFFs now (and back then) saw her last week at Becca's wedding. Another Bridesmaid in my own wedding

and of course...

Kyle (I'm holding his shoulders) - I did marry him about a year and a half ago ;-)

Oh....wait....wasn't this post about my brother? Right....

Well....on to the photos!

Interested in Seeing more pictures. Check out my Flikr Collection
Kate & Matt are Married June 11th 2010

(p.s. Wondering why I didn't watermark these photos? Well since most of them were not taken by me but by my dear friend Laura I didn't feel right taking credit for them. But you can give her *and my camera* credit!)

Kate and Matt are married! - Part II: The Ceremony

The Wedding Ceremony was beautiful. We all made it down the aisle without stumbling and Kate looked absolutely stunning. All of the photos taken from here on out were taken by my friend Laura so they don't get my watermark (since I didn't take them!). It was my first Catholic wedding; the priest who married them was an old family friend of the bride (I guess he was a college roommate of the father of the bride!) and he was great! He cracked jokes and had me giggling throughout most of the service which was helpful (It kept me from crying!)

When I passed Laura the camera I forgot to take it off of creative mode and put it on auto for her; so all of the pictures of Kate walking down the aisle were horribly blurry due to slow shutter speed (whoops!).

Kate and Matt are married! - Part I: Getting Ready

My friend Kate (another nurse and a good friend from college) was married on Friday, June 11th to her college sweetheart Matt. I was so excited to be able to make it back home to be one of her bridesmaids! The festivities started on Thursday with the wedding rehearsal at the church. They were married at St. Patrick's cathedral; an amazing old catholic church in Norwich CT. The rehearsal dinner, wedding photos and reception took place at Foxwoods Casino; if you knew Kate & Matt you would know how fitting that was. (I know!)

After the wedding rehearsal Thursday night & dinner at Hard Rock cafe (yes!) all 5 girls gathered in a two room suite and spent the night together, 5th grade slumber party style. It was so much fun talking and giggling until the wee hours of the morning. We woke up around 7 to start showering so we could be ready when the hair stylist and make-up artist got there at 8 am (ugh). I loved watching everyone get primped and proper, and I especially enjoyed seeing Kate slowly turn into a bride....

My two Nursing lovlies! Mary-Beth (gray stripes) and Bride Kate (pink plaid)

My Friend Mary-Beth NEVER wears make-up and NEVER gets her hair done,
so I had to get some photographic evidence of this...

My three (out of 4) partners in crime. Bridesmaids Mary-Beth, Nikki (middle)
and Maid of Honor/Sister of the Bride Meghan.
I think Amelia was getting her hair done during this

This next picture is one of my favorites. I took a bunch of shots of Kate getting her hair done, when she was sitting on a random chair in the hotel room facing one of the dresser mirrors while the hair dresser did her handy work. Basically the entire time she got her hair done she was just studying herself in the mirror. No smile, no giddiness, just looking. All serious, all the time. When her hair was done the hair stylist went to get the veil. When that was placed on her head....that was when she realized herself that she was becoming a bride.....
IMG_5691_edited-1

After that happened the Real Photographer came and I didn't want to get in her way/didn't have the balls to take pictures in front of her (like I know what I'm doing anyway). So I put my camera away and got to my real bridesmaid duties. I helped get the bride into her dress and put her garter on. About 20 min later we were off for more pictures....

Absolutely Gorgeous....

It's RACE day.

Just not MY race day.....well, not yet.....

Anyone notice the countdown on my blog over there on the top right corner? Anyone wonder what that was about? I wanted to wait until today to really tell you. The secret's out

I, Little Rhody Girl, will RUN the San Diego Marathon, one year from today on June 5th, 2011.

all 26.2 miles

you herd it here first.

I have debated really telling people, because that means I actually have to do it. But I know you guys will be a good motivator for me.

So here it goes. I'm committed now.

"If you can run 3 miles you can run 6;
Once you run 6 you know you can run 12;
and if you can run 12 you can run 15, 18 & 20;
and if you can run 20 you can run a marathon."

An afternoon at Petco Park

Wednesday Kyle and the other new LJG's (Kyle got promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade or "LJG" about a week ago) had a party to celebrate their success. They got box seats for everyone in the Wardroom/Friends&Family to the padres game, complete with a buffet and a never ending beer tap. AWESOME!

Here are some pictures!

In truth the baseball was a little boring. I like the Padres and I like baseball, but the game was S-L-O-W. In the 9th it was 0-1 Mets. Then the Padres scored, and we went into overtime then this happened. Fantastic...

So needless to say we were both glad we stayed until the 11th inning.

I can't WAIT to go home and watch my Red Sox on NESN. 4 more days!!!!! I made a game date already with my Dad.

p.s. Thank you All for your comments on my new hair. It definitely has taken some getting used to but I am really happy with it!

My new 'do!

Yesterday I got my hair cut/colored. For the past year or so I have put golden highlights in my hair, touching it up every 6-8 weeks. But because I'm lazy I've been busy for the past few months I haven't even stepped into a salon since *gasp* November!. I'm serious the last time I had my hair done was before my husband got back from deployment. WAAAYYY too long.

Here is a before pic, taken during my husband's dining out about a month ago.

26865_661861457314_14303209_38150771_4910425_n

Notice how the top of my head is a totally different color then the bottom...ugh I can't believe I let it go this long. Looking at this picture I decided that I didn't really even like the golden color on my hair anymore, reminded me too much of blonde (no offense blondies but I am a brunette! and proud of it!). I decided it was time for a change. I walked into the salon and was like. I want darker! I want chocolate brown and auburn please!

001

I'm loving it! It pic is a little light which makes the color look a little light but it's a beautiful dark brown with red undertones. And shiny! YAY!!!!
